Living in the 80’s

I have recently been watching a lot of 80’s movies.  Star Wars, yes I know it originally came out in 77.  Stand By Me, Adventures in Babysitting, My Mel Brooks collection, Monty Python: Life of Brian, Meaning of Life, Search For The Holy Grail, bad movies made by Stallone and Schwarzenegger, and so on.  I also watched Judge Dredd and Total Recall, both versions.  These movies were cheesy originally as it was.  Judge Dredd was pretty good for a remake, Total Recall was pretty damn bad.  That seems to be the problem with remakes, in general they suck.  Most of these movies had social and political under tones of the time or what the creates thought the future would look like based on current events from the 70s and 80s.

I sat there as I was watching, I would love to remake Running Man.  A movie I would like to update.  It could actually be grittier in many parts.  Don’t know if I would go with a similar version or hold truer to the original Stephen King story.  Maybe a little of both.  With today’s technology there is a lot that can be done with that movie.  Maybe someday.

Luckily for me, I have a great imagination and can literally come up with all kinds of things, the hard part is putting it down on paper, on the screen and so forth.  Been writing again, who knows, I might post something.
